Retired Corporate Events Manager: ‘It’s wonderful. It’s stunning’

SAN FRANCISCO—Shen Yun Performing Arts staged the second of four shows at the War Memorial Opera House as part of Shen Yun’s summer tour on Saturday, July 24.

Patricia, retired, and Merrill, a retired corporate events manager were in the audience and were appreciative of Shen Yun.

Patricia thought the classical Chinese dance was very different from what she had seen before. She said, “I like it—there is a difference. It feels very—it’s very precise in the movements, it’s very graceful. It’s just everything—the way they do their movements, the postures. It’s pretty elegant. Soft.”

Merrill agreed adding, “Just elegant, soft, precision. The dancers are all young and adorable. I was just amazed. They, just how their feet [moved] and everything about them. It’s wonderful. We’re delighted we came.”

Shen Yun travels with a live orchestra of both traditional Chinese and Western instruments playing original scores. Merrill appreciated the Shen Yun orchestra. She said, “It’s a different sound for us. It’s stunning. And also I can’t get over the precision, the softness. Very very good.”

Patricia said, “I think it’s beautifully done. It’s a very gracious show. In terms of the presentation, the energy that goes into it is beautiful. It’s beautiful energy coming from there.”

Shen Yun uses originally designed costumes. Patricia thought they were “wonderful.” She said, “Ahhh! the costumes!”
Performer: Shen Yun ‘a lot of variety’

Joan Kwanza is a volunteer at the opera house. Because of her love for singing and dancing she volunteers for both the San Francisco Opera and ballet. She has also performed in minor roles for both companies.

Ms. Kwanza was very impressed with the New York-based Shen Yun. She said, “I think it’s very well presented. There’s a lot of variety.”

Shen Yun brings millennia of traditional Chinese culture to the stage through traditional Chinese dance and singing.

Ms. Kwanza said, “I thought the dancing was great. I love the drumming.”
