CEO: Shen Yun ‘Beautiful, really beautiful’

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Providence Performing Arts Center was abuzz on Saturday evening, June 26, when Shen Yun Performing Arts staged its internationally acclaimed classical Chinese dance and music show, reviving the five-millennia-old artistic traditions of China. An enthusiastic audience was captivated by the many artistic elements of the show, including the performance by soprano Geng Haolan who received an encore.

Paul Tetrault, an Insurance Agency CEO from New Bedford, Massachusetts, was there to see the New York-based Shen Yun for the first time.

“It’s fantastic. I’m glad I’m here, that’s for sure,” he enthused. “The whole thing, it’s beautiful, it’s really beautiful.”

Mr. Tetrault felt Shen Yun was a lesson in Chinese culture. He explained, “I think it’s wonderful, I mean, it certainly helps people like myself to understand it a little more.”

Shen Yun left him with a feeling of “peace and balance.”

Mr. Tetrault said he hopes that Shen Yun comes to Providence again “at least every year—that’s for sure.”
'A beautiful uplifting show'

Chris Raffa, a creative services director for a TV station in Providence, was also at the show on Saturday evening.

Ms. Raffa said of the show: “I thought it was beautiful. The dancing, the costumes, and just the overall production was amazing. I was really, really impressed with it, it was a beautiful uplifting show. I found it to be very uplifting.”

She felt Shen Yun had a profound message, she explained, “I liked the message that I think the show portrayed. I thought it was a very spiritual message and I came out feeling really good when I left the show.”

Ms. Raffa said she would recommend Shen Yun to her friends and family saying, “You have to see it, you have to see it. I don’t think it’s easy to describe. I think that you have to experience what the show is all about. You have to go and you have to see it, and just experience the whole production.”

She shared her appreciation of Shen Yun and her belief that more people should see Shen Yun. Explaining she said: “I think it would be great if the show came back to Providence, came back here every year. I think more people need to be introduced to it. I think once they go and see the show they would come back and definitely see it again.”
