U.S. Congressional Candidate Says 'This is a must see show'

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Sam Meas, the first Cambodian American to run for U.S. Congress, was astounded by the Shen Yun Performing Arts show held at The Providence Performing Arts Center on June 26.

“It’s a shock, the performance is so well put together, and the music and the choreography. It’s just beautifully done, beautifully done. Everything! I’ve never seen a show like this before … I think almost every aspect of the performance, of the production is well done and we thoroughly enjoyed it,” he said.

Mr. Meas and his wife were seeing for the first time the New York-based Shen Yun bring China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture to the world stage, reawakening ancient Chinese values lost under communist rule.

Beautifully costumed performers light up the stage, choreographed to perfectly match 3-D digitally-enhanced backdrops, and ground breaking music of traditional Eastern and classical Western instruments playing together in harmony.

“It’s beautiful! It’s well choreographed, well done, it’s fantastic, fabulous,” Mr. Meas said.

He comes from Boston and will tell his friend that “this is a must see show.”

“It is a beautiful show to see different aspects of ancient China, and you know, every country has its own culture and this is one way to really experience the ancient culture of China.”

Mr. Meas reiterated: “To see something like this is just great. The costumes—I love the costume which is really neat,” instantly recalling a memorable dance with elaborate headdresses and ornate silverware that jingled with the dancer's lively movements, In a Miao Village.

“Yes, I loved the way the costumes ... the jewelry is beautiful. I love it.”
