Councillor Finds Great Wisdom in Shen Yun

LODZ, Poland—Shen Yun Performing Arts put on their third and final show last night, June 16, and will soon start making their way home back to New York. Councillor Filip Urbanek was amongst the many enlightened audience members to farewell these amazing artists with hearty applause and many standing ovations.

Mr. Urbanek is the city councillor of Skierniewice, a city in central Poland with about 50,000 inhabitants. After the show, he said he was very impressed and was still calming down from the excitement of having seen Shen Yun.

According to the Shen Yun website, it is a non-profit organization that is independent of China’s communist regime and which seeks to revive the true, five-millennia-old artistic tradition of China that thrived before decades of suppression by the Chinese communist party. The company seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture while providing audiences everywhere with an experience of sublime beauty.

Mr. Urbanek found everything about the performance very rich and colourful. He was particularly impressed by the erhu solo, describing it as "something wonderful, with beautiful feeling." This ancient two-stringed Chinese instrument is believed to be the closest to the human voice with its diversity of sound and power to move people's hearts.

"I'm very happy that this kind of show has come to Poland. There were times when it wasn't possible. Today is different," he said, referring to the communist regime which only ended in Poland about 20 years ago.

Mr. Urbanek continued in his praise of Shen Yun and the higher values it portrays, exclaiming, "These artists can tell us more about the things we have only in our memory. I'm happy they were warmly welcomed and were bade farewell with so many ovations. I hope that this climate will help to bring this culture, one of the oldest and richest in the world, from which we can draw great wisdom and truth. I hope it will flourish in Poland."

Mr. Urbanek mentioned one of the reasons he had come to see Shen Yun, commenting, "Not long ago I had a breakthrough in my life and it gave me courage to reach for spiritual values and look for deeper truths."

The other reason was to learn more about the spiritual discipline of Falun Gong. Two of the dances in Shen Yun portray the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in communist China, Nothing Can Block the Divine Path and Astounding Conviction. This meditative practice is based upon a set of exercises and living by the universal principles of truth, compassion and tolerance.

"Falun Gong promotes the truths which would definitely help many people in daily life, and also resolve many world, human and government problems," he said.
